Lantana Cherry Sunrise is an electrifying, heat-loving annual that infuses the summer landscape with a non-stop explosion of vibrant, shifting tropical color. This premium cultivar is celebrated for its dense, dome-shaped clusters of flowers that open a bright sunny yellow, rapidly deepen into electric orange, and mature into a rich, glowing cherry-pink hue. Engineered with a naturally mounded, exceptionally well-branched, and tight dwarf habit, it holds its uniform structure all season long without growing wild or leggy. Unparalleled in drought tolerance and completely self-cleaning, this tough-as-nails visual marvel serves as an elite centerpiece for sun-drenched patios, hanging baskets, and low-water borders.

Plant Care Guides

Watering

Lantana Cherry Sunrise features robust, semi-succulent branches and leathery leaves engineered to minimize transpiration, granting it world-class drought resilience. Operate on a strict "drench-and-dry" watering routine. While it appreciates deep watering 1–2 times a week during its initial establishment phase in Steinbach, mature plants can comfortably tolerate prolonged dry spells. Always allow the potting soil to dry out completely before soaking thoroughly. Ensure patio pots feature clear, unobstructed drainage holes; letting this plant sit in a stagnant, waterlogged saucer tray will rapidly trigger root suffocation and crown rot.

Sunlight

This tropical beauty strictly demands a premium, open full-sun environment, requiring a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of direct, unfiltered daily solar intensity. High-intensity ultraviolet energy serves as the direct biological fuel required to trigger its heavy flower bud budgeting and lock in its tight, dense, compact mounded structure. Planting Cherry Sunrise in partial shade or underneath low-hanging tree canopies will directly cause the branches to stretch out unevenly leggy, result in pale foliage, and completely shut down its multi-color flower production.

Pruning

Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward. The Bandana/Evita genetic family is heavily celebrated for being entirely self-cleaning, meaning older spent petals naturally shrivel and drop away on their own without requiring manual deadheading. No technical pruning is required throughout the spring and summer months. If a specimen in a hanging basket or mixed container planter becomes slightly uneven or step outside its designated bounds by late August, a light tip trim—clipping back the stem tips by 3–5 cm—will instantly prompt a fresh flush of tight lateral side-branching and an explosive new wave of autumn color. Note that you should minimize handling without gloves, as the coarse foliage can cause mild skin irritation to sensitive gardeners.
