Plant Care Guides
Watering
Syngenta Caliente® Orange Geranium features advanced interspecific genetics that provide exceptional heat and drought tolerance. It incorporates a robust "drench-and-dry" logic. Always allow the top 3–5 cm of the potting medium to dry out thoroughly before soaking deeply at the root zone. Thanks to its high edema tolerance, it resists foliage cell-bursting during high humidity far better than older ivy strains; however, ensure hanging baskets under Steinbach's summer winds are checked daily to prevent severe root dehydration. Never let pots pool in standing tray water.
Sunlight
This sun-loving hybrid strictly demands a prime full-sun to partial shade position, requiring a minimum of 6 hours of direct, unfiltered daily solar exposure. Ample ultraviolet energy is the direct fuel source required to intensify its vivid tangerine-orange floral saturation and preserve its exceptionally dark-green, glossy foliage density. Growing it in heavy shade will cause the semi-trailing vines to stretch, turn green-washed, and severely shut down flower budgeting.
Pruning
Incredibly trouble-free and low-maintenance. The Caliente series is highly celebrated for being entirely self-cleaning; older spent blossoms naturally shrivel and cleanly drop away from the flower heads on their own without requiring manual deadheading. No major pruning is required throughout the growing season. If the semi-trailing vines become slightly uneven, heavy, or outgrow their container boundary by late August, a light tip trim will instantly trigger a massive flush of tight lateral side-branching and dense autumn flowers.
