Plant Care Guides
Watering
Calibrachoa Orange demands a strict "drench-and-dry" watering routine. It possesses a delicate root system that easily suffocates in heavy or soggy soils. Always wait until the top 2–3 cm of the potting medium feels completely dry to the touch before watering thoroughly until it runs out of the drainage holes. Because hanging baskets are highly exposed to Steinbach's drying summer breezes, check them daily during July and August, but never allow the roots to sit in standing saucer water.
Sunlight
This sun-loving annual requires full sun to perform at its peak. Providing at least 6 to 8 hours of unfiltered, direct daily sunlight keeps the plant structure exceptionally compact and forces a heavy, non-stop production of rich orange buds. Placing it in a shady or partially shaded location will quickly cause the stems to stretch out, become thin and leggy, and result in dull, sparse blooming.
Pruning
Highly trouble-free as this plant is entirely self-cleaning; spent blossoms shrivel and drop cleanly on their own without requiring manual deadheading. No major pruning is needed. However, if the cascading trails begin to look uneven, stringy, or thin in the center by mid-to-late August, perform a quick rejuvenation trim. Clipping the vine tips back by 5–8 cm will instantly trigger fresh, dense side-branching and an explosive new flush of autumn flowers.
